Changing Lives Ministries - Our on-site partner
Changing Lives Ministries (CLM) is a South African Non Profit Organisaton which was registered with the Social Development Department in 2003. Its objective is to ameliorate the living conditions of abandoned, abused, and neglected children and orphans. In 2008 CLM was allocated the status of a Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) by the South African Revenue Service enabling it to issue official contribution receipts.
CLM supervises the implementation of our joint projects:
1) Children home Village of Joy
2) Feeding at the Riversands Primary School
The CLM Board consists of Daniel Bates and Milly Jarvis. Although both are actively involved in our projects, Milly must be considered the undisputed 'good spirit'. She is founding member as well as Chairperson of the CLM Board and the one who runs day-to-day business in an honorary capacity. In 2008 she handed over her travel agency - founded in 1999 - to her son and since then she is living with the children in the Village of Joy and organising the school feeding programme.
One of our members describes her as Mother Teresa of Joburg ... and this comparison is certainly justified. For our children she is just Gogo Milly - the Zulu expression for Granny Milly.
